Service Flow Chart:
When the Office of Disability Support Services receives the referral of a student, the identification of his/her needs in special education will be report to the Ministry of Education (MOE). Different services will be provided following the student’s Individualized Support Plan (ISP) which includes support services in different areas such as general guidance, academic support, career exploration, counseling, and other related administrative resources. The follow-up service will continue till 6 months after the student graduates

Our Main Services
1.
General Guidance and Counseling:

   Orientation for new students and parents
   Campus orientation and mobility training
   Arrangement of accessible dorms and learning environments
   Medical rehabilitation assistance
   Special education knowledge and skills advocacy
   Social supporting and leisure activities
   Public transport fare reimbursement
2. Academic Counseling:
    Assistance in recording, text-to-speech reading, textbooks scanning and converting, note-taking
    Remedial tutorials for academic subjects
    Tutorials in learning strategy
 
  Adjustment in learning assessment (including exams and assignments), such as the extension of exam durations,
    the arrangement of individual classrooms and the enlargement of the exam papers

    Application, procurement, supply and management of learning materials
3. Career Guidance & Counseling:
    Exploring career options
    Information on changing majors, double majors, minors, and programs
    Internship consultation
    Talks on special topics and workshops. Senior students’ sharing on preparing for civil service examinations,
    studying abroad and work experience

    Information on Part-time jobs, training, and related opportunities
    Transition service upon graduation and follow-up
4. Psychological Counseling:
    Case management
    Psychological counseling
    Case conference meeting
    Psychological tests
    Group counseling or workshops
    Family interview and counseling
5. Related Services:
    Club supervision for students with disabilities
    Special swimming courses
    Service learning courses
    Intern supervision
    Application and maintenance of assistive devices
   
 Training for note-taking, transcribing audio materials, and service personnel
    Updates of the Special Education Transmit Net
    Advice on studying abroad and related assistance
    Space management of the Disability Support Services Office
6. Administrative Support:
    Hosting Special Education Promotion Committee
    Drafting annual special education policies and programs at NTU
    Application, execution, and closure of the Ministry of Education subsidies for Disabled Students
    Identification for students with special education needs
    
Recruitment, training and supervision for student workers in the Disability Support Services Office
